Set the operating assumptions
Review recent unique inquiries, service fit, known bookings, completions and collection evidence. Check whether tracking is reliable and whether available capacity can support more work. Inventory total marketing costs and owner-approved limits. A favorable platform conversion metric alone does not establish that a larger budget is supportable.
A worked example
Fictional review: a business has consistent suitable inquiries and known contribution, but declines several requests during the only hours the campaign runs. Increasing spend without changing that constraint may buy more unaccepted demand. Another business has available capacity but incomplete payment records; it needs stronger evidence before calling the channel profitable.
Set a decision boundary
Write a specific hypothesis and a limited change with a review date and stop conditions. Choose the size from the business’s actual constraints rather than a universal percentage rule. Preserve other material settings where practical and note changes in coverage or service availability. Keep a downside scenario if additional demand is less suitable or more expensive.
Check whether it worked
Compare the same cohort definitions after the change, including cost, suitability, accepted work and unknowns. Look at total contribution under the stated model, not just a lower cost per click. If the result is inconclusive, record that and choose the next evidence check. A budget increase should remain a controlled business decision, not a ranking or revenue promise.
