A five-minute close-out habit

Make the outcome part of the job.

  1. Create one request ID. Use it for the first inquiry and every callback about that same service request. A genuinely new job gets a new ID.
  2. Record the milestones. Qualified means you can serve the request. Quoted means a price was given. Booked means the customer accepted.
  3. Close the loop. Mark completed only after the job is done. Enter money actually collected and known variable costs. Leave unknown amounts blank.
  4. Review open outcomes weekly. A booked job or unanswered voicemail is not automatically a lost job. Update the original row as information arrives.
