Towing Marketing Break-Even Calculator
Work out how many additional completed jobs your monthly marketing has to produce before it pays for itself, using your ad spend, management fees, and contribution per job.
Your numbers
Defaults are starting points. Replace them with your own. Inputs stay in this browser.
Paid to Google or other platforms from your own account.
Agency or freelancer fees, software, call tracking. Anything recurring.
What is left from one more completed job after its variable costs (driver time, fuel, wear, payment fees), before marketing. Not the job's gross price.
Recurring break-even
- Recurring monthly marketing cost
- $5,500
- $3,000 ad spend + $2,500 fees
- Additional completed jobs needed per month
- 44
- About 10.2 a week, at $125 contribution each. Rounded up; 44 exactly.
A scenario, not a forecast. It says what the marketing has to produce, not whether your market, capacity, or call handling will produce it. Job profit and saved advertising are never counted twice.
How this is calculated
- Recurring cost is ad spend plus management fees, per month.
- Additional completed jobs needed is the recurring cost divided by contribution per job, rounded up to a whole job.
- A setup cost is divided by the recovery months and added to the monthly cost for planning only. It is shown separately so the recurring number stays clear.
- "Additional" means jobs you would not otherwise have had. Jobs that were coming anyway do not pay for marketing.
Worked example
| Ad spend | $3,000 |
| Management fee | $2,500 |
| Recurring cost | $5,500 |
| Contribution per additional job | $125 |
| Recurring break-even | 44 jobs / month |
| Setup $2,500 recovered over 5 months | + $500 / month |
| Break-even during recovery | 48 jobs / month |
Whether 44 additional completed jobs a month is realistic depends on search volume in your service area, how many of those calls get answered and booked, and whether you have the trucks to run them. That is the conversation the strategy call is for.
How to use the calculator
- Enter what you spend or plan to spend on ads each month, and any management or marketing fee.
- Enter the contribution per additional completed job: what is left from the job after its variable costs, before marketing.
- Optionally add a setup cost and how many months you want to recover it over.

If the number looks reachable and you want a read on where those jobs would come from in your market, that is what the strategy call is for.
Keep working on the system.
