Answer / Make the website work

How do you review a towing website on a small phone?

Try the real visitor tasks at a narrow width: understand the service, confirm coverage and find the correct contact action. A page fitting on screen does not mean it is usable.

Inspect the customer’s path

Review the homepage and a service landing page around 320 and 390 pixels wide. Use ordinary text size and enlarged text, then inspect navigation, headings, contact buttons, forms and tables. Record horizontal overflow, text hidden by sticky elements and controls that require precise taps. Avoid judging only the desktop mockup.

A worked example

Fictional comparison: Version A has a large truck image, a clipped phone number and a menu that covers the contact button. Version B explains supported service and coverage before a clearly labeled contact action, with a menu that closes using a visible control. The useful difference is whether the visitor can complete the task, not whether one version has more animation.

Choose the next action

Prioritize blocked contact actions, unreadable essential information and form errors before decorative spacing. Keep service facts and limitations visible rather than hiding them in an image. Give tables a usable scrolling region and preserve headers. Test with keyboard navigation as well as touch; meaningful focus and labels help users who interact differently.

Check whether it worked

Repeat the same tasks after the changes and capture the viewport and result. Check portrait and landscape where relevant. A local usability pass is not a legal-accessibility certification or a claim about every device. If interaction is clear but loading is slow, collect performance evidence separately so the next change addresses the actual issue.
