Answer / Improve local visibility

What needs updating when towing business information changes?

Treat a real change as a coordinated release: establish the approved fact, list every dependent surface and verify what the public can see afterward.

Check the profile evidence

Write the effective date and what changed: telephone number, location, hours, service capability or ownership. Identify who can authorize the new fact and which systems depend on it. Include website content, contact links, profiles, ads, downloadable materials and the answering script. Google may review business-information edits or require verification in relevant circumstances; do not promise immediate publication.

A worked example

Fictional change: a company changes its office number on Friday. The website text is edited, but the call-button link and a downloaded checklist still show the old number. Advertising continues to reach the old route. The change log needs separate rows for text, link, forwarding and assets, with evidence for each; “website updated” is too broad to establish completion.

Choose the next action

Prepare the new wording and routing before the effective time where possible. Keep valid legacy routing during an approved transition if the provider and business support it. Submit required profile changes through the authorized account and record pending review. Avoid declaring a new public location unless the actual operation and platform rules support it.

Check whether it worked

Inspect the live mobile site, main profile and key contact surfaces after the change. Check the old route’s intended behavior and document exceptions. Review new inquiries for confusion about the changed fact. Preserve the log for the next provider so an old asset does not silently reintroduce outdated information.

Owner verification checklist

  1. Approved new fact and effective date. Record the evidence and mark any missing answer as unknown.
  2. Dependent surface inventory. Record the evidence and mark any missing answer as unknown.
  3. Correction owner. Record the evidence and mark any missing answer as unknown.
  4. Pending platform review. Record the evidence and mark any missing answer as unknown.
  5. Live verification evidence. Record the evidence and mark any missing answer as unknown.
